Basic Learning Skills is one of my top subjects! My certifications are Elementary Education K-6, Education Administration K-12, and Early Childhood Education level II. My experience includes classroom teacher grades K, 3, 4,& 5 (Brunswick County Schools); GED preparation and remediation (Western Piedmont Community College); Summer Program and School-Age Coordinaor (For Kids Only Child Development Center); instructor for Introduction to Education (UNCW and Western Piedmont), and private tutoring-students ranging from early elementary school through college.

As mentioned in my earlier description, I have eighteen years experience as an educator. I have taught students of all ages from early childhood through college and non-traditional adult education. I believe in making learning fun and engaging by relating concepts to points of interest for the individual student.
Tutoring differs from teaching in that "style" is replaced by method. Some of the methods I have used in the past are rhythm and music, neumonic devices, and of course, drill and practice. I have been told that I am gifted with presenting material in novel ways.

Science/ English Tutor

I believe that every child has a different manner of obtaining and learning information and it is the instructor's duty to identify each student's learning style and to teach accordingly. Think of a key ring with all sorts of different keys on the ring. As a teacher you must try one key on the key chain at a time. Sometimes the first key will open the door to a child's success and other times it could be the fifth or seventh key.
