For writing, usually I conduct some exercises. The level of the critique and what to say depends heavily on the age of the student. For grammar, I would either find or create my own practice materials and we could go over whatever is necessary until I've decided that the student is making improvements or the student has succeeded.
Over the past year, I have tried to extend my ability to share my love and appreciation of English and literature with others. As an English/Communications major, I am very knowledgable in a variety of subjects including grammar, writing composition and reading comprehension. I entered college as a pre-med student and came out a writer, but since my family insisted all writers lived in garrets, I became a teacher. Later I traveled with first a classical choir and then a rock band, put my editing skills to work for a geopolitical organization and lectured on economics, dialectical materialism, spirituality, and more mundane topics, such as camping and travel.
