I feel the need for tutoring is the need to simply obtain information in a form that is different from the one presented in the classroom. As a tutor, I work to break things down into their constituent pieces and explain each of these pieces in turn. This is a more time-intensive method of instruction, of course, as the breaking down of information is totally dependent on the way it must be done for it to make sense to the student. Most of my classes have been lecture format, but the majority of my classes also consisted of a weekly lab component. In lab, I worked one-on-one with students and aided their learning in both the lecture material and hands-on laboratory materials.
