Enrolled in Advanced Placement for all of High School and graduating with a 3.5 GPA, I have five years of tutoring experience, students ranging from 5 years to college age. I also have experience in resume assistance, test preparation, and public speaking. I am currently in the process of getting a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Composition, as well as teaching credentials for the state of California.

I am a mother of 4, young grandmother of 8, with experience in substitute teaching at the elementary school level, have a BA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, and have been a volunteer Sunday school teacher of elementary age children for over 10 years. I love working with children especially in small group settings. My lifelong passion has been reading and I especially enjoy helping young children practice and make the connections necessary to improve their reading skills.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very unique. I start off by just getting to know the student and having them get to know and trust me. I then build on that trust factor while helping the students with their homework. I connect well with students and they trust me. In the end, it seems to be the best way the students I work with learn and finish their work. Learning should be fun and not boring. It should be interactive and not just book work. If a student can experience learning first hand, they're bound to acquire enough knowledge to help them succeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored children in reading last summer. It was one of the most gratifying things I have done. I worked with English as second language children ranging from ages 5 to 13. We used a lesson plan and several activities to help children in achieving their reading level goals. Also, in my undergrad experience, I excelled in writing and was very good with meeting deadlines.
I am a very down to earth person especially when it comes to kids. I always try to lighten up the mood and make learning things interesting and fun. I don't like to dismiss when I see a child having trouble in something. Every person has a different way of learning, I try to cater to each of their needs.
