A Little Bit About Me...

When I was in middle school in Beijing, I had a learning partner who had difficulties with Math. I always helped him patiently when he had questions. One day I found out he did not take notes in class. I advised him to take notes but he did not follow. I was worried about him and took his notebook and wrote up for him. That night I worked until midnight and finished his note. Next morning he was shocked when he saw the notes. He changed his attitude on taking notes from then on.

My comments on tutoring Chinese : I am a native Cantonese speaker and attended a Chinese school from age 4 to 14 whose curriculum emphasized in traditional Chinese language, e.g. Confucianism, Menjianism, Liji, Analects and other traditional Chinese philosophers, Chinese history, Calligraphy. All classes were conducted in Mandarin, the official language of China. So I am also proficient in speaking Mandarin.

For all my tutoring and teaching assignments, before committing myself to the instruction, I will chat with the prospective students to find out their learning objectives. Depending on their lesson needs, be it for career advancement, work-required, academic related, I will write up a customized learning objective or for lengthier lessons, a syllabus. By doing so, the students can best gauge their progress and stay on a more discipled course of study. The objectives, of course, may be revised if need be.
