My comments on tutoring Life Science : Highly qualified k-8

For 20 years I worked for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, as a fifth through 7th Grade classroom teacher. I taught all of the academic subjects in various combinations, sometimes all at once to a self-contained class. The State of Tennessee recognized me as "Highly Qualified" in all subjects, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. I served on the district's math council for 5 years, helped direct the district's science fair one year, and worked extensively in the field of arts-based curriculum development. I also was trained in the IB curriculum, and implemented it for 10 years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted to teach Math and have finally been able to take time off from full time work to obtain the required education to do so. I realize that many folks experience difficulty learning Math. In most cases, there are several ways to teach a particular concept. If one method does not click with a student, I will try another method until we find on that works. Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I take each child as their own individual knowing they have their own needs in learning a subject. I teach in several different ways as to ensure the child grasps what they need.
