A Little Bit About Me...

I am interested in tutoring because I love teaching regardless of the subject matter. I’ve been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to try several different content areas such as Special Education 7th grade Science in a Push-In model, ESOL, Home and Careers, Career and Financial Management as well as substitute teaching in many areas K-12, in addition to teaching technology in multiple districts. My background as a manufacturing engineer gives me a vantage point of what is required in the real world for success and survival in the working world. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007 from SUNY Brockport with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, English and Special Education. I have worked as a substitute teacher in all grade levels and in all subject areas. I have been accepted into a high degree Masters program but feel I need to have a job to justify the repayment(s) of additional student loans that would be needed to finish my MA. I have recently been a four county advocate for people with special needs as the Disabilities Program Navigator. I would still hold this position if funding had not run out. As a teacher, I take the time to get to know each student's strengths and individual personality first. I believe this creates a foundation of trust, mutual respect, and fosters the learning process. Building upon what I know about the student, I can help students grow and learn. I believe in surrounding children with experiences that they can draw upon.
Through the extensive teacher preparation program at SUNY Geneseo, I had a wide variety of experiences. As a member of Kappa Delta Pi, I worked with an ESOL student to tutor him in humanities. I also worked in the Access Opportunity Program area, in which I tutored students in English and math. I have continued to gain experience through volunteering with Turkish refugees in the Mt. Teaching young people and seeing them succeed is such a reward. Many students find the conventional school setting difficult and work with greater success in a one on one setting. Getting to know the student and his or her learning style along with some background enables a tutor to create an atmosphere where the student will be most successful. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching one on one more then in a group class setting and I do enjoy teaching individual more then in a group setting. I do wish to teach "Chinese" as a personal language when I retire in the future if we don't have SS since I am a baby boomer (hope this is not true)
Born as a Chinese national and I speak fluent Chinese Mandarin language and I studied Business in Accounting and graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1990 and my mathematical course I always get "A" on my grade (I even get 105 on my test score, believe it or not) and I still love math. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching for 21 years now (wow, that's gone by fast!) and I love every second of what I do. I have also been a tutor in the district for the past 9 years, tutoring every subject possible--math, English, Social Studies, etc. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to get to know students who don't take French and also I love to teach other subjects outside my own area. Teaching is the best job there is--I get such a great energy from my students every day! I rarely miss a day of school, and I look forward to going in to work every morning.
