A Little Bit About Me...

Everyone has a distinct learning style and attitude. I relish the opportunity to present subject matter to students in the precise manner that invokes that "eureka" moment where they finally achieve understanding of something that has frustrated, intimidated, or eluded them. I use humor and positive reinforcement to inspire confidence in my students. I believe that all people can learn, regardless of age or experience. They just need the proper guide.
I am driven to learn as well as to teach. I have a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences and an MA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, both of which have afforded me great experience not only in the sciences but also in writing skills. I come from a family which highly values broad education in all fields. My degree in Studio Art allowed me to explore a broad range of academic topics. During college I volunteered at the California Raptor Center in raptor rehab and education, participating in community outreach and educational programs with students of all ages, from kindergarten to senior citizens.
