I am working on a master's degree in communication.

I am currently a substitute teacher at Mountain Grove Schools. My practicum was completed at Mountain Grove Elementary. Subjects taught include math, science, reading and social studies. I am currently a senior at Missouri State University completing my degree in Secondary English Education. I have experience in tutoring my younger brother in the subjects of English and Reading while he is completing high school. I have helped him for the past 3 years.

1) Give the person you are turtoring an opportunity to tell you where they are having a problem. 2) While working through problems monitor the person you are tutoring to see if there are other problems. 3) Suggest changes. Never force them. There isn't one correct way. Make a suggestion on how to improve and explain why you are making the suggestion. 4) Do multiple versions of a similar problem. The first time I will complete the problem, explaining each step. The next time the person I am tutoring will guide me through the problem, telling me what to do next. Then the person being tutored will do the problem while I observe. 5)Let them make mistakes. Explain why it is a mistake and show them how to detect it in the future.
