A Little Bit About Me...

I worked for a year as an in-home and school aid for a 6-year-old boy with autism, teaching him social and hygiene skills, as well as verbal, sign, and written language. I also worked as a therapist for a year for adolescent males with developmental disabilities and emotional impairment. Further, I have experience as a caregiver for patients with brain and spinal chord injuries in a rehabilitation center.
I love to teach while taking into account each child's individual learning style. I focus on strengthening weak areas of ability and making seemingly complex material simple and easy-to-understand. I also enjoy creating learning activities for children of all ages and all levels of abilities.

I thrive on humor. I believe students do too. If a student feels comfortable with the teacher he/she is learning from, he/she will be more open to what the teacher has to say. In addition, when the learning is fun, the student is more motivated to pay attention to and show interest in the material. I truly love teaching and when a student sees that I am passionate about the information and about his or her education, he or she will then in turn become more excited about a weaker area of study.
I graduated with an Elementary Teaching Degree from a small university in Michigan.
