I have earned a bachelor degree and a master's degree in Business Education. I have kept my teaching license current. In 2008, I obtained my vocational education endorsement for my teaching license. Most of my career has been spent in the field of Information Services working as a business analyst and a project manager. Since education was also a passion of mine, I assumed the position of Education Coordinator for my department. While I enjoy working with a younger population, I have had more experience with middle school, high school, and college students. After graduating with honors from Grove City College, I took a position as a writer for a large nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. While working as a professional writer, I dedicated my free time to tutoring at a center for urban kids.
Learning must be fun, especially in a tutoring context. In my previous tutoring experiences, I always attempted to turn tasks into games or opportunities for creative expression. For example, multiplication tables can become an opportunity to play a relay game. Learning different parts of speech can be made enjoyable by creating an imaginative story. My particular interest is helping children develop a passion for creative writing and reading.
