In high school and throughout my college career, I have tutored many ages- varying from age 8 to age 30. I've earned a BA in English from Kent State University in 2007, and it has helped me to understand the importance of literacy in young adults as well as continuing education. I worked at the Ohio Literacy Resource Center as a tutor for college students, and have been involved with Junior Achievement and tutored French to third grade students for both Garfield Elementary School and Ella Canavan Elementary School in Medina, Ohio during high school. I vary my teaching style. Some students are content with just reading while others need hands-on and visual experience. I believe in using technology, as the Smart Board and computer instruction in addition to textbook instruction. I do my best to keep the student's interest in mind, and I work at the student's pace. I taught Middle School band for 30 years in the public schools, followed by 9 years part-time at the respected Old Trail School in Bath, OH. My bands at Bolich Middle School in Cuyahoga Falls, OH received many "Outstanding" ratings at O.M.E.A. contests. I have also substituted in several local school districts for a wide variety of subjects, including Spanish and French. I have also tutored Spanish privately, and given private lessons on piano and flute. I always try to start from "where the student is" and build on from starting point.
