I believe in meeting students right where they are, and letting them progress at their own rate. I make learning as relevant as possible and incorporate many hands-on learning opportunities. I present information in a multitude of ways, using modifications and graphic organizers. School should be fun, and most importantly, it should make sense!!
After teaching for 12 years, I decided to step away from the classroom in order to spend more time with my own two kids. I taught in both Rochester City and Brighton, with kids in grades 7-12. If I am tutoring a young person I contact the teacher so that I can find out what areas the student needs review in. Many times the teacher will give me the resources and materials to use. Also, I like to use the guide books for each grade that are sold in stationary areas of most stores. For tutoring in reading I've found the Leapfrog Reading Program is very helpful. I like to meet my students at the library so that I can use the resources found in the library, including the computer. Many times I use educational games because are very useful tools in learning, and they are fun.

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. I think that figuring out how the child studies for the subject they enjoy will lead to an understanding of how to motivate that student to learn the subjects that are more difficult for them. Also, if the student's teacher stays positive and pushes him or her towards success by means of positive reinforcement they will succeed.
