A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently an electroincs instructor at UAF Community and Technical College. I have over 100 published technical articles, and am the recipient of the William Orr Technical Writing Award, conferred by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). I have just written a major book, "Radio Science for the Radio Amateur" to be published by ARRL later this year. For nearly ten years I was a development engineer for the UCLA department of Plasma Physics, and have worked in a number of different types of laboratories.
My teaching style is hands-on wherever applicable, such as in a laboratory envioronment. I use a great deal of humor too, and expect lots of student participation.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies depending upon the needs of the student. Some students require less one on one instruction and just want to be pointed in the right direction. Other students require the subject to be explained in several ways making the information personal and applicable to their specific situation and experiences. Having the extensive real world experience allows me the flexibility to pull from multiple learning styles and mold the information to the student.
I am a life-long learner, currently in the final year of my Doctoral program in Business Administration. I have over 20 years of accounting experience in industries ranging from CPA firms through manufacturing and hospitality. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children learn differently. I, myself, am a very hands-on learner and I have expressed my learning styles in my teaching styles and it has been very receptive. I believe that as a teacher/tutor, one needs to find what the child is interested in and use that knowledge to adapt the curriculum to them.
I have earned a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training and a minor in Strength and Conditioning, which has given me an advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and other sciences, as well as medical terminology. I have taught a student athletic training class for 3 summers at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, WI. Also, my job as a certified athletic trainer allows me to be in constant contact with school-age children and athletes.
