I have tutoring experience in mathematics at the secondary and high school levels. One example of tutoring at the secondary level was when I tutored an eighth grade student in pre-algebra to improve his math skills to prepare him for high school algebra. The result of this particular tutoring was that the student began to understand and enjoy math, which was one of my goals. His grades subsequently rose from the "C" level to an "A" level. As an instructor, I encourage my students to try something new and to make many mistakes so they can learn from them. I prefer to teach by utilizing real-life situations that are pertinent to the subject matter. In my opinion, when you are able to bring the subject matter to life by making it relevant to the students you are teaching, there is a greater chance that the student will not only understand the information, but remember it long after they leave the classroom.

Balancing life as a student-athlete created a unique and challenging college experience for me.
