I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I took high school and college seriously. After college I worked for several years before attending law school. After law school I decided to combine my legal experience with hands-on medical skills, and I enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at SUNY Delhi, which I will complete next May. This summer is a lull before completing my education and embarking on a medical administration career.
I believe effective learning can occur in a 1-on-1 tutoring situation when the tutor and the student can communicate well. Tone, mood, and setting all come into play. Between the years of 1978 and 1984 I was a monitor and then a supervisor in a small Christian school using the ACE curriculum. They have various programmed learning booklets teaching all of the major subjects. You are actually more of a tutor than a teacher if you work with these booklets. I have experience in the four major areas of learning which are English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I was with students from first through twelfth grade. While I was college I had occasion to take two years of college level English and also statistics up through 600 level.
