I have been working with students in a reading program at a Title I school for 2 years; working with second language students teaching them the English language. I have taught Math and Science for 4th and 5 grade using the Foss system. The Science program was a hands on experiments, writing and keeping a science notebook. Evaluations were given at the end of each lesson segment involving the Foss Systems. Taught 3rd grade all subject for 5 years teaching all subjects. I have been recognized for classroom management above expectations for the school. Students were taught with creativity and experience using hands on manipulatives and differenciated lessons. I have been teaching for 15 years. If children are taught to read the right way they will not have problems later on. Difficulties should be caught early in order to help students overcome them. I have been tutoring for two years.
I believe that each child learns in his or her own way and you, as a teacher, must provide opportunities for all students to learn. I believe teachers must be flexible and willing to change plans to accomodate the needs and interests of the class. I believe that children need to be given a good foundation especially in reading. Reading is the most important skill because without reading students will have difficulty in all other subjects.
