If you were to ask my students and co-workers to describe me and my work, you would hear things like: “extremely fast worker, high standards for quality, dependable and always meets deadlines, very easy to work with, eager to help you succeed, a positive, entertaining and enjoyable person to be around.” I am consistently inspired to learn new skills related to creativity. The breath of my skill set makes me a valuable tutor as I can perform many different duties. My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : In my experience as a special education teacher and administrator, I have learned that children need to learn methods to give their learning structure and meaning. Sometimes this takes time to find methods that work. I am very patient and am used to getting creative and trying out many methods of teaching to find the child's learning style.

I believe my patience and creativity allows children to feel comfortable with their own learning needs. I work with them and help them find their unique learning style. We then build on that style to build their confidence and ability. All children can learn once we find their unique learning "channel".
I have been a Special Education Teacher for 15 years and an administrator for 5 years. I have taught at both the elementary, intermediate and high school levels. I have worked with students who have been severely cognitively disabled and those that have had multiple attention and behavioral concerns. I am very patient and have been able to create systems to provide structure to keep kids on track. I always want children to know what to expect and have a structure in which to be successful.

I love working with students and have excellent patience and communication skills. I also like to think of creative ways to help students learn if they are not understanding. I have found that the method of facilitating rather than dictating to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences they will not only retain information longer, but they will become more confident in their own abilities.
I have experience working with a wide range of students, from K-12, as well as special needs. My specialty is microbiology, and have received a degree in cell biology from Marquette University. I have learned how to discipline myself when it comes to learning, and have been able to use that to help other students of all ages. I love to work one on one with a student or in a small group setting. I especially enjoy working with students with learning disabilities because it allows you to think outside the box and come up with methods that will open up the brain and enable material to sink in that had previously been a mystery. I believe that very few people have ever reached their potential and its a privilege to see students break through to another level. Tutoring is a great privilege and its something I love to do.
For the past fifteen years I have worked part-time for the West Allis School District as a substitute teacher and then a tutor. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very hands on teacher. I like to make learning fun and not boring. I know that all children have the ability to learn have a special education minor to help me teach ALL students. I like to use different approaches for each student as they all learn in different ways. I also firmly believe that each student needs to be met where they are at and taught from that point. Students need to feel successful and safe in the environment in which they are taught in. They should be able to know they can try things that might be a little difficult and feel encouraged and excited to learn new things. Parent should also be included in their learning experiences to encourage their child as well.
