Throughout high school and college, I have tutored peers and younger students in both math and physics several times, occasionally for pay. Last year I was a course assistant for a college freshman-year math course in theoretical math at Harvard University. I am enrolling in a PhD program in pure math at the University of Texas, Austin, where I will have a 16-hour-per week teaching load including three sections of undergraduate calculus. When I was a course assistant, my section scored higher on the quizzes and exams than the other sections. A Little Bit About Me...

My passion is making mathematics accessible. After high school I was underwhelmed by mathematics. However as I took more math in college, I realized how much I had missed in high school. As I learned more mathematics, I became determined to make it my business to find and implement better methods of educating people on mathematics in a way that does not overwhelm them, but simultaneously makes their learning experience more useful. I studied teacher education as an undergraduate, and attended graduate school at Dartmouth where the program in mathematics has a specific focus on preparing one to teach mathematics. I have taugh young girls ranging from 10-13 years old for an LDS Church, and enjoyed working with these girls, arranged activities to fun places and helped college students with certain skill sets - math, English, Computer Programming (C+, Networking, Access, PeopleSoft). I am a very helpful person who loves to help others to success with their classes, and enjoyed seeing how their grades improved with some of the help that I have rendered to these students - they did well on their tests, quizzes and coached them with Speech class as well. A Little Bit About Me...

During my undergraduate studies, I was involved in various tutoring/mentoring organizations on campus. I served as a mentor for local area children ages 8-14 as part of an after-school "big buddy" program. During my junior and senior years, I tutored newer students in math, science, and engineering courses. Additionally, I served as a teaching assistant for an upper-level engineering course where I was involved in activities such as answering students' questions regarding course materials, and grading assignments and providing constructive feedback.
