A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching is relational and student centered. I motivate by affirmation and encouragement. I beleive it is important to listen to students and pay attention to their strenghts, fears, hopes, and passions.
I taught 7th grade English for one year and 5th grade general education for three years. Prior to teaching, I tutored writing and study skills in our university acedemic skills department. I have also tutuored adults learning English as a second language and adults learning to read. Additionally, I have worked at after school programs, homeschooled a student who could not attend school for 3 months because of a brain injury, and volunteered as a reading partner for an elementary school student for three years. I have also tutored in Spanish on numerous occasions. I have lived in Mexico and Costa Rica which has really made my Spanish skills solid.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am now a teacher at a private school in Monona. I help aid a Preschool classroom and have my own classroom in the afternoon for students age four. I also run an after school program once the school day is done with and that incorporates 4 year-olds to seventh graders. I help students out with homework during that time. Before I started my teaching job, I was substituting in Madison and Verona Area School Districts. While in college I had many practicum's in different classrooms and would help students out inside and outside of the classroom. For the past two years, I nannied for a little boy and would help him out with his reading and any other homework he would have for the night.
