My teaching style is unique to each student's indivdual needs. I take time to recognize my students learning style and provide the need materials or teaching style based their needs. I prefer tutoring to working in a classroom because I can give each student the specialized one-on-one time they need to help not only keep them on track with their school's requirements, but also introduce them to better study habits that could help them excel in the classroom when they do return to school.

I have been a high school teacher of Latin and ancient Greek, for three school years, and I spent an additional school year as a high school librarian and study skills course teacher. I also have a year of college Latin instruction experience, and a year as a TA for an ancient history professor. I graduated from Endicott College in 2007 with a BA in Liberal Studies, and a concentration in Elementary Education. While there I completed 2 month long internships in classrooms as well as a semester long internship in a 3rd grade classroom. I hold a preliminary license with the MA DOE in Elementary Education. I spent 5 months working with children with severe to profound mental retardation in a group home setting. Most recently I have taken a position as a teacher in a GED program. A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to my second career in the field of service to at-risk senior citizens, I taught English for four years at Westport High School. Following the reduction in force made necessary by budgetary constraints, I taught for ten years at the Crystal Springs School in Assonet, MA as a Special Needs teacher. While rewarding, I missed the challenge of more literary pursuits and began teaching evening classes at a local communuity-based organization. My tutoring experience had its inception in that setting.
As a progressive educator, I believe in attainment of the standard benchmarks by individualized methods, utilitizng a spectrum of teaching modalities. My personal affect is cheerful and professional, although I believe that learning should be fun, and with me, it is.
