During my Doctoral candidate years, I worked as both a engineering lecturer and laboratory instructor for 3 different engineering fields. The fields were circuit design, applied mathematics and practical laboratory equipment usage. I also gave lectures in Applied Optics (physics) for Seniors at Clarkson University during my last Doctoral year (1984-85) at campus.
Informal for large groups as I wanted the students to see me as like them, but with enough capability to inspire them to listen. I learned early on you cannot make anybody learn anything. You must inspire them to want to learn. At the 1-on-1 setting (tutoring level), I work at a very detailed level with the particular student I have with me at the time. Each one is sufficiently different to warrant different teaching approaches to maximum effect and retention.

As a graduate teaching assistant in 1992, department of engineering selected me as the teaching assistant of the year. Teaching was fulfilling and rewarding to me. I offered additional tutoring sessions at no cost to help students comprehend the material. I have limited experience as a substitute teacher. I substituted a few times when I lived in Connecticut in 1995 and then a few times in Maine in 2000. Mostly, my career as a principal mechanical engineer dominated my time for the last 16 years.
