I love to teach!

I am a firm believer in relating education to the real world. This philosophy transcends into my teaching style. I make it a mission to ensure my students understand what they're learning rather than simply memorizing it to pass a test. I want my students to not only learn the subject matter but develop a fundamental understanding of what it takes to succeed in school, college, and the real world. As a recent grad, there are so many lessons I have learned throughout my academic and early professional career that I wished someone had taught me. I will do my best to make sure my students learn those lessons well in advance of actually needing them. All in all, I will help my students develop a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
I have 8 year of professional experience in public practice, corporate accounting, and consulting. I have done everything from externa ... read more

I have done some mentoring through work, and am presently looking to become a full time educator, as I feel I can make an excellent contribution to any students life-long learning.
I have only been substitute teaching but have found tremendous joy in helping students realize their potential in all areas of their lives. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate from an accredited business school, I have gained a high level of expertise in fields such as Business Administration, Finance, and Economics. Immediately after graduation in 2005, I gained valuable experience in managing a small business. I was responsible for every aspect of the business including bookkeeping, marketing, billing, collecting, and customer service. This past year, I have gained valuable experience in the field of education as a student teacher in the Williamsville and Niagara Falls School districts. I have designed and implemented lessons on Computer Applications, Financial Literacy, and Advertising & Media.
I am a firm believer in student-centered lessons and learning by doing. I have always felt that kids would rather do something than watch me do something. It is of utmost importance that I always establish a good rapport with as many students as p ... read more

I've always been driven to help others understand subjects on a deep level. When I was in high school, I taught my brother basic algebra. (He was ten years old at the time.) As the editor of a high IQ society's official publication, I work with people to help their submissions meet their full potential. My undergraduate degree is in economics, and my graduate degree is an MBA with a concentration in finance. I have a very solid understanding of statistics; enough so to allow me to identify and correct errors on two separate professors' answer keys. I'm also strong in finance, accounting, general business, and general written communication.
The single most important thing about being a teacher or mentor is to be respectful, socially aware, and sensitive. Okay, that's three things, but they kind of go together. The second most important thing about being a mentor is to creat ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

When working towards my Bachelor's I was able to achieve a dual BS in Accounting and Business Management. After working a few years, I decided to go into teaching. While doing this, I was able to assimilate my real life working experience, into the classroom. I have since obtained a second certification in Special Education. This was after obtaining my Master's in 2007. I believe the combination of these teaching areas, would allow me to help those students, who need different areas of help.
My teaching style is one that allows the students to ask any pertinent question about the subject at hand. By allowing the students to do this, it allows me to see what might be giving them a hard time with the learning. Thus, I would be able to ask pertinent questions, that will allow me to show different ways around the troublesome areas, while giving the students a new way to learn th ... read more

I would say that the greatest personal attribute that the Lord has given me when it comes to teaching is patience. I allow the student the time that it takes them in order for them to "get it" without pressuring them. I also like to make the material as simple as possible by teaching in a manner where I like to emphasize understanding as opposed to just being able to do it. And typically I find the best way to offer enlightenment to the student is to take whatever concept it is that I am trying to convey to them and draw an analogy to something basic that they do understand to help bridge the gap to the new concept (the same thing that the Lord Jesus Christ did - John 3:12).
I have been tutoring and teaching since I entered college. I have helped multiple friends of mine through difficult classes that they needed for their degree. I have held many study groups for difficult up ... read more

I have tutored students both with and without learning disabilities. In my 15 years as a teacher in elementary and high school, and as a tutor, I have covered math through algebra and geometry, biology, geography/history, chemistry and physics. I am capable of tutoring college level courses in math and science, too. I believe each person is capable of learning, and that a report card can be improved by learning 'how to learn'. I use manipulatives, white boards, games, and music to tap into those areas of the brain that best respond to learning the material. Tutoring time should be a time for children/adults to anticipate with joy, not fear. Bringing out your academic best is my number one goal for you and/or your child.
I have been a teacher and tutor for over 15 years, specifically in private schools. The first student I tutored (as an elementary student) has graduated from ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

After receiving a degree in Sociology from a New York State University, I went on to earn a provisional teaching certificate in Biology. I have twenty-one graduate hours in Reading and eleven graduate hours in Early Childhood Education. My previous work experience had me working with families where one adult was in need of a GED. I have tutored students from elementary through high school in every subject (except Foreign Languages) for over ten years. I have also worked with entering BOCES LPN students on math review and raised many of their entry level grades twenty points. I have also been very successful tutoring children with behavior problems.
Teaching young people and seeing them succeed is such a reward. Many students find the conventional school setting difficult and work with greater success in a one on one setting. Getting to know the student and his or her learning ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

In pursuing my accounting degree I found that I have an extraordinary passion for accounting. I worked hard to achieve my BS in Accounting during my four years at Daemen College. I have extensive skills in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and auditing. While I was attending Daemen College, I tutored financial and managerial accounting. The students I had were diverse and of all different majors. I was very driven while I was obtaining my BS in Accounting and I remain driven while I finish my MBA.
I have such a passion for accounting that I want to bring that into the students learning experience. I believe in practice makes perfect. With accounting one of the best approaches I find is to do examples that interest the student. I will often create on the spot examples in order to intrigue the student. I understand that accounting is complicated, but I believe every studen ... read more
