I enjoy teaching students of all ages, individually or in groups. I find the Socratic method most useful, and with children this translates into making the subject (i.e. German grammar) seem like a puzzle that, with some effort, can be solved. I think students are best served when they can discover these answers for themselves.
I have a BA in English and a Master's and Ph.D. in German (Germanic Linguistics). Following five years of teaching high school Spanish, I continued teaching others by volunteering as an English as a Second Language tutor and later transitioning into corporate learning and development where I now design and deliver customized training to adults. I've continued to use Spanish as our daughter attended a Spanish Immersion elementary school, during which time we hosted three teaching assistants from Latin America.
