A Little Bit About Me...

I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself. When I try to teach someone, I always explain to them the subject as basic and simple as possible. I give a few examples, and then help them figure it out themselves. I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. I have also taught Summer school at the Allen Center in South Kortright which can be a tough crowd to work with. During my undergraduate studies I tutored chemistry and biology. In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning.

I began school as a Biology major for 2 years, so I have a great science background. I love to teach children. I finished my Masters program in December 07 and began teaching at the school I did my internship at, Briarcliff MS. I taught grades 6-8 and filled in for a Special Ed teacher at the end of the year. Also during that time I tutored a group of 6 graders in Math.

I usually review the material with the students first and then give them a quiz to see what they have learned and where there weaknesses are.
