My language learning career began in middle school when I chose to study Spanish. having enjoyed the language so much, I continued all throughout high school and eventually chose to continue my Spanish learning in college. I chose to study Spanish and Secondary Education. during my undergraduate work, I was recommended for tutoring Spanish at the beginning and intermediate levels. I continued that work for my sophomore and junior years. During my time in college, I was fortunate enough to have the ability to study abroad for a semester in Granada, Spain. I take a more hands on approach to teaching as I know that everyone learns in different ways. I believe in language acquisition as compared to simple memorization of words and grammar. I like to bring my own cultural knowledge into instruction as well. I believe anyone can learn Spanish. It is a very useful and relevant skill. I teach others by learning and adapting myself. I love finding new and creative ways to explain familiar concepts. For my degree I had to take a year of chemistry, which I immediately fell in love with, even though I had hated it in high school.
