I love helping and teaching children. I have given riding lessons to all ages of children for years, realizing there is no better feeling than helping children accomplish their goals. I would love to help children in any way I can to meet their academic goals, I know what it is like to have to study hard for what you want to accomplish. Being 25 I feel, and just being a graduate myself, I think can be a way to relate to the children and what they are trying to achieve. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with students of almost every age and level. My first teaching degree was a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. With that degree, I worked in a preschool, and I have substituted extensively in elementary schools and in middle and high schools for 12 years, learning to work with math systems such as Investigations and Expressions. At the same time I have aided and taught evening classes for adults learning basic skills to further their educational and career goals, and I have volunteered to teach Sunday school and ESL. To better understand the specific needs of adult learners, my latest degree was a Master's in Adult Education.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a mom, I've learned to be patient and easy going. As a teacher, I try to find the best approach for individual students. Some of them need more guided practice and examples, while some benefit from independent work. My pace and level of difficulty in teaching will be determined by the student background and potential and it usually goes from slow/easy to harder/faster.
I've been teaching most of my life, first as a rank one student to my classmates and friends and later as a physics and math instructor. I enjoy showing the easy ways to go through complicated looking problems and concepts to my students and I like to witness their academic accomplishments which build the confident to be successful in life as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures with an emphashis on French at Washington State University. At the same institution, I was a volunteer tutor. Between August 2007 and May 2009 I was a tutor for individuals getting their High school diplomas. I volunteered to tutor at the High School Equivalency Program(HEP) at Washington State University. In the program I tutored 20 Mexican/Mexican American students in various subjects including: math, science, and English. I also provided guidance and preparation for the GED exam and problem translation from English to Spanish.

Over the last 15 years, I have worked in various different areas. First, I taught adult ESL, and had occasional tutoring gigs with Russian speakers learning English, and some English speakers learning Russian. Currently, I work as a special education teacher. Part of my job is to work in small ratios with honors students who have disabilities. This "study skills" class often requires one-on-one tutoring.
As it has evolved over the years, my teaching style has become a mix of facilitation and direct instruction, with the goal always being the student's making his own discovery. I was trained in the Socratic style, which seems to match well with inquiry-based learning, and that is how my classes usually end up. I introduce activities, then gradually release them to the students to lead.
