My comments on tutoring Computer : Training Specialist with extensive experience in teaching Microsoft Office (MSO) Applications in both the federal and private sector. I have over 25 years experience teaching Microsoft applications to high school students, adults, displaced workers, veterans and federal employees.

Since 1985 I have been working in the computer environment. I worked with data processing high school students at the Johnstown Vo-Tech for over 17 years. For the past 11 years I have served as the lead instructor for all MSO training at the National Drug Intelligence Center. I graduated from IUP with a degree in Biology Education. I am certified in Biology and Middle School Science. I taught for one semester at Central Bucks School District where I taught Academic Biology, Astronomy and Oceanography. I then taught two years at Gateway School District where I taught 8th grade physical science. I now have a permanent position at Yough School District where I teach 7th grade Life Science. I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
