My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I am very artsy. great at writing short stories, letting my mind wonder, and teaching people to think about writing the way that i do

I have always been a hands on learner, so that is mostly the way i portray my lessons, by doing, instead of readin. However i also see the need in having to sit down and Get to work, because some thing are better learned on paper
i am just a twenty year old college student, Who has learned a lot in this world, and looking to pass it on to whomever it might effect. Very caring, musical, and a great people person. I have mostly learned all my people skills when i was a waiter at T.G.I. Fridays, and that combined with my love of learning brings me to this tutor position

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects!

I prefer an interactive approach to teaching. My goal is to help students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills by themselves, limiting their dependence on tutoring or other guidance. For younger children, I have experience teaching grammar in an innovative game-setting.
I'm a recent college graduate with two Bachelors degrees from Salem State University: one in English/Writing and one in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Applied Social Ethics. In college, I have won two essay writing contests within the philosophy department, and placed third in a university creative writing competition. As far as teaching goes, I am mostly here to help the person with the way they write their papers, organization of paragraphs, spelling, whether or not the writing makes sense to the reader, and whether or not the reading understands what is written. I believe in being honest about my critiques to the person's writing and being a fair judge all to help the student improve his or her skills so they can become not just good but great at what they are doing. College Undergrad Looking to Tutor English Students

While I have never conducted a formal tutoring session, I have edited the work of my peers and more recently assisted my girlfriend's younger sister with the completion of her college essay. From my experience, I have found that I prefer to work one-on-one with the student whose work I am editing. That way, I am able to explain my revisions and help them understand my reasoning behind making certain edits. I'm not, by any means, a hard-nosed individual, but I'll certainly do my best to ensure that the student learns something.
Not only was English my favorite subject as well as the one I was most proficient in in high school, it eventually became my major in college. As a Visual Arts Teacher and Special Educator, I am a resourceful, energetic person with a commitment to fostering lifelong learning in students. I am positive, outgoing, and approachable, with a talent for drawing out young people and putting them at ease. My philosophy in education is that all children are capable of being successful in school and life and their experiences and accomplishments should feel both enjoyable and rewarding through their own desires and perseverances. Given the rapid advancements in technology, I have come to realize that students can access much of the information needed to be successful in life. With this in mind and given the ever changing classroom philosophies around methods and instruction, I believe teachers’ curriculum and lesson plans can also include ways to support their roles as facilitators in a classroom where the teacher then guides student ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As an instructor, my style is usually to help a writer discover what they are trying to say, even if they aren't sure of it. From there, we can tackle the point and purpose of their story, which will help all of the other aspects click together. I can recommend short stories or novels by writers who seem to have the same style as the writer I'm working with, and will work with them to examine the methods and techniques that these writers use how they may be beneficial to my own students work. Ultimately, my goal is to make sure that the writer creates exactly what he set out to create. Not my vision, not the vision of any other writer, but their own piece, something that is unique to their skills and could not have been created by anyone else.
