I am a 23 year old graduate of Vanderbilt University, Class of 2014. I majored in Medicine, Health, and Society, while minoring in Philosophy. I began my undergraduate career as a pre-mededical student, but eventually transitioned towards preparation for law school, though I completed all of the pre-med requirements besides Physics. Throughout my undergraduate education I became well-versed in the areas of General Chemistry, Biology, Algebra I & II, and English, among other subject areas. Prior to my entry into college, I took both the SAT and ACT, and scored exceptionally well on both of them. I am currently working as a paralegal at Peter T. Skeie & Associates, a law firm representing individuals in Social Security and ERISA disability claims. I will be attending law school in the fall of 2015, with my school choice TBD within the next couple months.

I believe that the most important characteristic that a teacher must have is consistency. The teacher must develop a system of rigorous work with ample support. I believe that it is imperative to possess an in-depth knowledge of the subject which one teaches, not just be a few pages ahead in the book. A Little Bit About Me...

As a Mad Scientist, I learned how to make learning science fun. I like to spend a session with my students learning their background and their learning style. My students have always appreciated my ability to look at problems and subjects from different angles. I like to use every day metaphors for teaching math problems and also try to teach students how to use a "process of elimination" style. For example, it is easier to identify whether or not an object is a cell phone by picking out one trait that a cell phone has and determining if the object has that trait rather than describing all the traits of the object and then determining if it is a cell phone.

I'm patient and understanding the complexities of accounting and the ensuing panic that it sometimes causes. In my experience the fundamental reason people need tutoring boils down to a failure to truly understand the concept of the debit and credit. I always begin by reviewing these concepts and ensuring that the student/intern fully understands the logic behind the debit and credit. Once understood, the comfort level with accounting fundamentals drastically improves and we can move on from there.
