A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating, I did substitute teaching for the rest of the school year, primarily in the Yukon School District. At that time, the market was flooded with new graduates with degrees in Elementary Education; therefore, I took a position working for the State of Oklahoma. I have always been the “go to” person at work whenever writing skills were required, and became known for my grammatical and spelling abilities. I have also been a mentor and trainer of other employees. I have been an avid reader all of my life and feel that literature can enrich lives both young and old.
I enjoy teaching children of all ages, but young children in particular because they are so excited about learning new things. Teaching has been something I have done a great deal of my life no matter what path I was on. When I was in nursing school, patient teaching was a strong point of mine. I love children. I am patient, kind and believe in utilizing intrinsic and extrinsic forms of lessons so that children develop a love of learning and see the short term rewards and long term rewards.My goal is to help a student succeed.
I am currently heading for a BS in Elementary Education while I am home schooling my children. I have home school grades 6-11. I have accomplished raising reading levels within 6 months past 2 grades past level. I have tutored and home schooled children outside my own and have been asked to assist children with reading. My shelves are currently equipped with grade K-10 curriculum and I am ready to provide part time and full time education on several subjects or one
