I have always loved to teach, and loved to travel and meet new people. This led to traveling for a summer during college to Mexico City, living with a Spanish-speaking family. I also spent twelve weeks in West Africa teaching ESL and speaking French before my senior year at OBU. After graduation, I lived in Northern California (where I had also spent a summer during college), teaching ESL to adult Mexican immigrants, tutoring middle-school Korean students, and spending one summer in Southeast Asia while earning a Masters and TESL certificate. I am first and foremost a listener. I'm laid back and patient but understand that success on exams and in school does not come to most without hard work and challenging yourself to go out on a limb. I believe that the best way to learn is to make materials apply to you and things going on around you.
From early on in my high school career I understood that passing AP tests could mean graduating from college in 3 years, saving money for grad school, and a chance to get into the professional world sooner. That's exactly what I did. I had to take some summer school and intersession classes, but I endured.
