My comments on tutoring Elementary Study Skills : I have been an elementary teacher for 27 years and have a masters degree. I have taught all subjects in grades 2-5. I currently provide remediation in STAAR and study skills.

I taught third grade for 15 years in Galena Park ISD. I became a content mastery teacher for 2 years. I then taught art for 2 years. I received my masters in reading and became a reading specialst. I have been a reading specialist now for 8 years and I am currently employed by Schertz Cibolo University City ISD.
My style is varied depending on the needs of the student, however, I mostly use tactile/kinesthetic styles with the use of visuals and manipulatives.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience tutoring former classmates and some clients. I find that because of class sizes and lack of time, some students are not getting the proper instruction needed to succeed. The way public schools are set up they focus on excelency on state tests, and don't build up on needed stepping stones for the next years levels. With the right attitude we could all be successful!

I am a certified Special Education teacher. I work in the NEISD district. I have been a redirection and behavior teacher, a self contained teacher, a resource teacher, and I have co-taught a class. I have taught resource classes in reading(phonics, fluency, comprehension), math (STAAR prep). I had a tutoring client for 3 years working on math every week. I am motivated and love a challenge.
I student centered. I believe you have to know how the student learns and tailor the work to interest them and relate the material to real world scenarios. The student needs to be engaged to be able to reach their full potential.
