I have 6 years of substitute teaching experience in the Washoe County School District in Nevada, as well as at a charter school. The setting as a Sunday school teacher is different than the usual classroom experience. However, the parents and elders expect results and it is very satisfying to see the children respond with good answers and, especially, with good questions for me. I have learned so very much from my students. I have taught and encouraged little ones from toddlers to 12 years of age, both boys and girls. My tutoring experience has been limited but not through lack of trying. I tutored one high school youth in algebra and geometry. He did well and passed his class. I am very passionate about English, partly because I struggled with it myself. I never received an A in a high school English class until my senior year; yet, I received a BA in the subject only four short years after I received a D- in my AP English class during the second semester of my junior year in high school.
