I have helped tutor AVID high school students when I was a senior at Cherry Creek High School. I enjoy helping the kids learn and believe that being a tutor would pay it forward since I had so much help from tutors. I always helped my friends out because I was in higher level classes than them some of the times. I also worked with tutors and know how much of a difference they can make. As a substitute teacher, I have learned to accomodate my teaching style to the environment in which I teach, as well as teaching age appropriate lessons. I have taught all subjects and many different ages, but I enjoy math the most. Although I have no formal teaching experience, we all learn and teach everyday in our lives. I am very intelligent and want to pass that on. I have done much reading when I was younger, exploring memory and mnemonics. I also took the Mega-Memory and speed reading courses by Kevin Trudeau. They are the ones that are in the Skymall catalog. When I graduated college I found myself wanting to help others. I began doing this by counseling youth who had substance abuse issues. For a time I also worked with the youth at a homeless shelter. Helping them with homework, ESL studies, and math skills. The youth there were a variety of ages and backgrounds, so I had to adapt my style to their needs. My education allowed me to focus on child development and the various stages of cognitive development. This helped shape my ability to help a variety of age groups based on their level of understanding.
