A Little Bit About Me...

I have grown a desire to work with children since my camp counseling job in 2004. I have been giving many opportunities to work with children due to my college training for a degree in education. I have found the balance between being a friend and authoritative figure with children through all of my experiences with children. I have learned to be patient, flexible, and loving in all given opportunities in life. I would love to be one who has had an impact on the future generations of our world. I believe that teachers are given that opportunity which is why I strive for that. I want to have a positive impact and help children achieve things that they might not dream they can achieve.

I worked with the Minnesota Literacy Council tutoring adult learners in basic math and reading skills. I attempted multiple approaches with each person until we found one that allowed the learner to make sense of the symbols and language. I encouraged the ability to work at the material until the learner could make it his/her own in some way. I also trained new employees each month in the use of a software program at a pharmaceutical company. Employees were required to learn the program regardless of experience and ability with computer programs. I was challenged to engage disinterested employees, encourage frustrated employees, and meet the demands of highly inquisitive employees while maintaining focus on the required information.
