I am a visual learner, and so my first approach to teaching is using visual aids. I usually draw, use diagrams, or try to paint a mental picture for my students of what I'm trying to teach them. I am excellent at explaining complex terms so any layperson can understand them. I have only worked with teenage/young 20s people, so have less experience with a younger crowd. I have learned teaching college students that if one teaching approach doesn't work, try another! I am willing and able to explain the same concept as many ways as needed for someone to understand. My students at BU rarely left my classroom confused.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a retired school teacher that misses teaching children.I taught in a NJ public School for over 30 years. I actually taught in the same school district I attended as a child. My expertise is in 5th & 6th grades, but am available for grades 2-8. I have some science background and taught technology also.
I loved teaching! I think I retired too early because I miss the every day challenges and excitement teaching gives! I have been trained in 4Mat and Gardners Multiple Intelligences. I firmly believe "every child can learn" as long as you teach to their learning style. My daughter is following in my foot steps and will start her first teaching job in September. Attending graduate school at Binghamton University truly prepared me for academia, requiring many research papers and essays as well as honing my knowledge in psychology, the arts, human development, english, and biology.
