A Little Bit About Me...

As an engineer and manager, training employees was an integral component of work performed throughout my ten-year professional career. I created systems and procedures, followed by training and "tutoring" for successful implementation. I also worked for the university during my college years as a Chemistry coach. I tutored students 20-hours per week for four years, providing one-on-one and team services. In high-school, I tutored elementary students in mathematics and reading. More recently, I participated in the HOSTS program, which is a program for the advancement of reading in elementary schools.
My style is relaxed, but focused, with a touch of humor to ease nerves. The first step is creating comfort and trust between the student and the tutor. To do this, when coaching Chemistry, I would have the student present a problem. Then, I'd say, well, let's figure this out tog ... read more

All students can learn and it is up to the teacher to find the right method and style to make the greatest impact. I have been blessed with several great teachers in my life. Accounting and Finance often blend the theoretical and concrete. I strive to teach theories and concepts through fun activities and games in order to make learning fun and as stress free as possible. To fully grasp the numerical applications of accounting and finance the answer is deceptively simple: practice, practice, practice. Repetitive usage of math problems allows students multiple opportunities to increase their understanding of material. Every individual is capable of great learning but will do so in a way that is unique to them. I am happy to work with students in whatever manner best suits their learning style to ensure that each student finds academic success, meets personal goals, and experiences personal growth.

While I enjoy working with a younger population, I have had more experience with middle school, high school, and college students. I am very patient and easy-going, but I also expect that my students perform the tasks asked of them in the time given, as to further reach our goals. I have a descriptive way of teaching, but I am also a firm believer in using abstract methods in order to obtain and understanding. Visual aids can also be very helpful, such as using pictures, every-day items, or a chemistry model set.

A Little Bit About Me...

I sincerely enjoy teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe that all children have the ability and want to learn, but each are unique and it takes getting to know the child and what strategies will engage them and work best. I love to see people succeed and am willing to go to any measure to help children achieve success education-wise and in life. It is important for children to have positive role models and be comfortable with the person teaching them in order to make progress. I can relate very well to children and will be able to get them to learn in the best way for them as an individual. I look forward to helping, advancing, and making a difference in all of my students' lives.
