The world would be a boring place if all of its people were the same. I believe each individual is socially, academically, emotionally, cognitively, and creatively developed differently from others. Some children perform better in social relationships than at written language and this is where people like me come handy to improve and help develop some of these academic domains. I believe people learn through direct experience and that an educator should focus on an individual’s needs, so a constructivist approach is my teaching style. I am patient, a good listener, who embraces diversity and is attentive.
Maintaining a good GPA was something extremely important to me during my academic years both in high school and in college. This is why I believe that everyone should have the opportunity and access to improve a certain academic area through the help of competent tutors like mysel ... read more

As a recent graduate from University of California- Santa Barbara, I am eager to put my acquired skills and knowledge to use. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Global and International studies with an emphasis in Latin America, which has provided me with the opportunity to understand many different cultures and value the importance of education. I always excelled in writing and research classes, earning high marks on term papers and exams. I volunteered in a local kindergarten class 5 hours a week. I helped coordinate various learning labs, that enabled the children to explore and learn new things.
I believe that education is the ultimate tool in life, that every person should have access to. I teach with passion, and truly believe that each child has the ability to achieve anything with hard work and determination. I understand that each person has a different way of learn ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Twelve years of teaching English in the Pennsylvania public school system has left me with a wealth of experience spanning all grade and ability levels. I have developed and implemented original curriculum for courses, ranging from electives to Honors English, based on my observations of students' skills and interests. I created and taught an original middle school Gifted program for one year, but returned to the high school to resume teaching English, because I missed working with the entire student population. I have experience teaching every genre of literature and writing, and have used creative approaches to make grammar applicable to students' writing.
Passionate and enthusiastic, I bring a lot of energy to teaching, and maximize lesson time to achieve the best possible student comprehension. Careful attention to the subject matter, individual learning styles, as well as ... read more

While I pride myself on being approachable, patient and easy going, I tend to approach teaching in a methodical manner. I believe that student's time and attention is very valuable, and warrants preparation and thoroughness. My initial approach is always to first assess a student's needs, goals, learning style, and accomplishments. Next, I pick a strategy to approach the needs of the student. For example, I might select a straight-forward text or document from which I could teach loosely, such as the book "With Good Reason". (It is an excellent text on argumentative methods.) Editing and reworking methods eventually becomes paramount. I am available to help students electronically. This is a style currently 'in vogue' at my university, espoused by my professors. Students can really benefit from the focused attention it can provide.
I am a natural teacher, and my exper ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is modeled after the Princeton Method, which is the way that I was taught to teach tennis. The Princeton method focuses on the positive. So instead of saying "don't skip the hesitation for a period mark", I would say "remember to hesitate in between sentences".
I started teaching tennis to juniors at the age of 16. I enjoyed that very much. For close to 10 years I taught at a country club in Connecticut. During my time there I did not focus on winning, but our record went from 0-7 to 7-0. I attribute this to the power of positive teaching. After I completed Loyola University MD, I went into B2B Corporate sales, where I was successful, but my passion remained with teaching. Recently I was a PE Coach at a school, and I started an after school program for tennis and golf for the children.
