SAT - Math is one of my top subjects!

I'm a recent graduate from Brown University, with experience tutoring at the middle school, high school, and college levels. Math and Biology are my favorite things to teach--I love the subject matter and I love to see it "click" with students. In math, I received an 800 score on the SAT, and a score of 5 on each the Calculus AB and BC exams. I also tutored algebra as a high school student. SAT - Math is one of my top subjects! I have a no-nonsense approach to SAT. It's more like a game than anything else, and I teach the student how to win. The material is limited by various constraints, and it is important to concentrate on the kinds of questions that are used. It is also mainly a multiple-choice test, which introduces many ways to get the answers. i scored 796 on the math SAT, mainly because I knew how to take the test, and I teach students all the tricks.

I have logged over 5,000 hours of tutoring in the last four years. I have worked for a game company, which taught me how to approach tests as a contest between student and test-maker, and my extensive background as a writer gives me practical experience when it comes to teaching English and related subjects. My competence in math has always been obvious, as my 796 score (maximum 800) on the math SAT will attest. But most important: I love to teach any child or adult who wants to learn.

As a high school student, I had a part time job tutoring a younger high school student in mathematics and SAT preparation. This job was 4 nights a week and lasted all during my senior year. As a college student, I would frequently help friends and family with high school chemsitry in a one-on-one formal setting. I also further tutored my brother's friend in SAT preparation. After completing my degrees, I did some tutoring for my future sister-in-law in college level organic chemistry.
My teaching "style" is process-oriented. I first explain the fundamentals or theory, then do an example, then work through an example with the student, and finally allow the student to complete a problem on their own.
