My comments on tutoring Aerospace Engineering : I have had 26 year experiences in airplane structural design, analysis and repair.

First, I have had 26 year experiences in aircraft (i.e. C-17, 787 & Delta IV rocket) structural design, analysis and repair. Due to lack of new order for C-17 transport airplanes, I was laid off by Boeing on 5-2-2014. I have been eligible for social security benefits since October 2014. However, I am in such a good shape to be able to play tennis games. I would like to work for 5 more years minimum to contribute my engineering knowledge and enrich my personal life. I am looking forward to working as a mechanical engineering tutor.

My teaching style is highly interactive and somewhat Socratic in that I will ask a number of questions to the student before giving an answer. In doing so, I can diagnose what information the student knows and find out where they may be lacking. Additionally I try to communicate with the student in a language they understand. If the student is a visual learner I would try to show examples whereas a student that is more auditory, I would spend more time talking and using stories to communicate information. I first inform the student what will be covered in the lesson, and then question him or her to determine background knowledge and capability. At each step of the lesson, after presenting the material, I ask the student questions to determine the resultant level of understanding, and after the lesson is completed, I give a test to document the results. For the past several years, I have been working full time as a researcher in the field of condensed matter physics. Before that, while a graduate fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, I acted as an instructor in laboratory skills and assisted teaching classes in both the physics department and the Wharton School of Business. In addition, I worked regularly with a National Science Foundation program to train high school teachers in the latest advances in nanotechnology. The most enjoyable part of those years for me was teaching middle and high school students about careers in science and cutting edge research.
