The Friendly Math Guy Next Door

Taught students ranging from 7th to 12th grade in subjects ranging from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus for 2 years in a private school setting as well as after school tutoring in the aforementioned subjects. Tutored in all subjects ranging from College Algebra to Calculus while a student at Mitchell Community College. My passion is teaching mathematics. After a single year of retirement I missed teaching so much that I now either teach or tutor at three locations. In the classroom I have a casual, informal style that is more like a conversation with my students than a formal lecture. After presenting a problem for students to analyze and solve, my most common tactic is to ask a series of scaffolded (rather than Socratic) questions-designed to lead students to their own method to resolve the situation.
