My comments on tutoring Economics : Whether it is help with a macroeconomics course or the international political economy as a whole, I offer academic tutoring that is coupled with real world knowledge of financial markets and business practices. I have been tutoring in this field for five years.

Prior to serving in the United States Army, I was a successful entrepreneur in NJ. In 2003, I was recruited and after serving I returned to train troops at the Infantry Training Brigade at Fort Benning, GA. After returning home, I began working at a financial firm and became a licensed Investment Advisor and Asset Manager. I ran the Manasquan Edward Jones branch office until deciding to return to school. I studied Political Science at the University of Florida completing their International Relations program Cum Laude. Studies in International Relations focused on the international global economy, international agencies, national security, international political theory, and other aspects of public policy. I received minors in History and Chinese Language & Business Culture. While studying the Chinese Mandarin language, I became an asset to my Chinese counterparts (and visa versa) to gai ... read more

I love teaching and working with children. I believe good communication is what makes life efficient. In my mind, good communication requires a positive, instructive, and detail manner. A better future requires a better education now, and how we pursue it is vital. Education empowers a mind, attitude empowers a lifestyle.
As a former student and professional athlete, I am a very self-motivated person. From the University of Florida I earned a B.A. in History and a Minor in Education. Last year, I worked in the classroom as a substitute teacher on all three major levels of grade school education. In addition, I have been a supervisor and counselor at various camps which require long hours and spendig individual time with children.

A Little Bit About Me...

I adapt my teaching style to the student I am tutoring. Usually I like to show a student the correct method of solving a problem, and then I like to have the student do the task on their own. After they do a few problems on their own, I like to check their work and help them with any errors. Most importantly, I like to listen to their questions and make sure that I am being clear with my explanations. I feel that all students can perform at a high level, but they must be confident in their abilities. My goal is to instill them with confidence so that they can solve problems on their own in school.
I recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. While earning my degree, I took multiple physics, chemistry, biology, and genetics courses, and this allowed me to gain a high level of knowledge in the sciences. In addition, I minored in Art His ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style embodies a combination of individualism and structure. Before I teach any subject, I dissect the topic to get to the fundamental root that may cause difficulties in learning. I break down the problem into a simple nature so that students can understand the logical reasoning of how to solve any problem. I believe that everyone has a unique learning style, so I use a flexible approach to better help students discover beyond just the right answer. Instead of just giving a student a few steps to memorize, I emphasize understanding why the solution makes sense, so that they may solve any problem regardless of their memorization abilities.

I enjoy teaching and working with students. I believe all students can learn and be successful with the right combination of commitment and training. I am available to help your child achieve academic success in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, general math, statistics and various other business related courses. I devote myself to my work. During high school, I enrolled myself at the local college (Florida Atlantic University) and took advanced placement courses. I graduated second in my high school class with over a 5.0 weighted-GPA and 500 hours of community service. I also orchestrated a 7-student tutoring group through the Exceptional Student department and thus have experience tutoring students with learning disabilities. Having obtained over two years worth of college education while still in high school, I pushed myself beyond the typical collegiate degree. I obtained two bachelor's degrees (BA in History; BA in English) and a minor in French. As an English major, I have great grammatical and communicative skills. As a renaissance student, I have an extensive knowledge of many subjects: calculus, physics, geometry, biology, English, civics, history, and SAT testing. I have tutored ... read more

I love seeing people understand something once I explain it to them in a way that they can understand it. I also love working with kids and teenagers because I believe that if we have a positive influence on young people they will grow up to be the leaders that our nation needs. My teaching style is geared at making people think. Students don't learn when they are spoon fed their education but when they are lead in the correct direction.
I am currently enrolled in the graduate engineering program at the University of Florida, in which I plan to graduate in the spring of 2012. I enjoy working with people and I have a strong background in numerical analysis. I have taken the GRE, ACT, and the SAT. Scores were high above the national average for math and at about the average for the written portion. I graduated from Davidson College with a major in economics, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of both math and social science. I tutored during my junior and senior years in North Carolina and I've also done private tutoring in Gainesville. In addition, I coached 4-12 year olds how to swim. If I can teach 4 year olds who are screaming and kicking how to swim I can teach someone math or ecnomoics.
I really enjoy teaching all ages. From my background in coaching young children how to swim I've become well adjusted to dealing with difficult situatioins in a learning environment. However, I always want to provide my students with the best learning environment possible. I'm extremely patient and I believe that a teacher should be willing to do whatever is possible to help their students understand the material and learn.

While in business college, I am constantly tutoring fellow classmates and peers. Tutoring is very rewarding to me because I can be a part of each student's success.
My teaching style is largely based on my learning style. I am a very fast learner and I decipher the big picture and the essential concepts of a subject or problem before looking into the details.

My teaching style is very specific to each student I tutor. I try to tailor my thoughts so that any student at any level in the subject can understand me. At the teaching center, the focus was to help guide the student to get the correct answer and not just give the answer. Sometimes the thinking process to achieving the correct answer is more important than the answer itself. I also try using diagrams and figures when they are called for to explain some of the topics. I frequently use positive reinforcement so the student feels even more encouraged to learn.
As a microbiology student, I have taken rigorous courses in the sciences as well as math. The laboratory classes that accompany the science classes also provided first hand knowledge and the ability to write research papers and lab reports. This along with my passion for chemistry let me to take a position at the University of ... read more

My favorite approach is to take it slow. I find that to teach a student a specific field of knowledge there is almost always a hindering block that cannot be seen at first glance. For instance, a student who is having trouble with division of decimal numbers may not realize that the whole issue stems from his lack of understanding of the multiplication tables. Allowing the student to show you what he or she knows and watching the student attempt the problem step-by-step will reveal this hidden block. Once this hidden block is taken care of, the information will flow easily and naturally.
Throughout my education I have always prided myself in being an excellent student. Although this extended to all my subjects, my most passionate courses have always been in mathematics. This has been true from elementary all the way through college. Once in high school, I began tutoring students in ... read more

I have taught as a Teaching Associate at the University of Florida since 2006, when I was admitted to candidacy. Before that I taught as a Teaching Assistant at U.F. I met one-on-one with students throughout this experience to advise or tutor them when extra help was needed. I also taught at the middle and high school levels (history, art, and drama), so I am experienced in assisting students from age 12 through adulthood.
I use humor to bring the subject matter to life, and I help the student come to her/his own understanding through discussion of the course material, encouraging her/him to take an active role in learning. I am accustomed to working with students who believe that history is boring and/or challenging. I focus on major themes and relate the material to students' lives, rather than stressing rote memorization of dates and facts (although comprehension of reading m ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching students of all ages. All individuals are different, but with patience, consideration and understanding students can improve their understanding of subjects and their learning skills; particularly in independent tutoring sessions. I believe in mixing instructional methods when teaching, including the use of modern means such as computer software. However, when tutoring I believe it is primarily important to engage the student, be creative and understanding. My personal goal is to be give my students a great opportunity for success in later life.
I lived practically on my own since I was 14 years old, when my parents had to return to Venezuela. However, with hard work, resilience, constant effort and the help of good individuals, I have been able to succeed in the United States. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate of the University of Florida and have been fortunate enough to excel in school throughout my life. I started tutoring in middle school and continued throughout my college career. I earned my bachelors degree in Accounting so I would like to believe my education is well-rounded. My favorite/strongest subject is math but am versatile in all subject areas. I relate well with children as I have two younger siblings (high school and middle school) that I often tutor as well.
I tend to use a hands on approach to teaching. I put learning in the perspective of the students life into an experience that he/she can relate to. I asses the level of clarity needed based on the students response and actions. I like to teach visually which also helps for memorization and repetition. I take as many breaks as necessary for the student so that they do not get frustrated or dis ... read more

I have worked as a substitute teacher in a wide variety of subject areas, and have volunteered as a tutor for some time. However, since beginning a PhD program at UF I have done neither. Though most substitutes are not much more than babysitters, I attempted to teach whatever subject matter was before the students. I regularly heard from students that they understood my way of explaining something better than they understood their regular teacher (though this by no means happened in every class). This happened most often in math and history courses. In my work as a lawyer (I was an assistant district attorney between law school and the PhD program) I honed my conciseness skills. I have prepared more academic papers than I care to recall during my eleven years (and counting) of higher education. My particular field of political science requires proficiency with higher math and statistic ... read more
