I have worked with teenagers, young adults and older students returning to college. I work especially well with students who have a lack of confidence about their academic or intellectual abilities. I taught first and third grade for 6 years at the Saw Mill Rd. elementary school in North Bellmore, NY. I taught summer school for one summer in the Title I program at Chestnut St. School in West Hempstead. I taught adult education (real estate course) in West Hempstead. I was a substitute teacher in the West Hempstead school district for 5 years.
I use word games, flash cards and drill. I love working with the little ones as they are enthusiastic and show the most progress. Some youngsters need more visual stimulation. Games are a great motivator, as the children are learning without feeling that they are doing school work.
