When tutoring a child or young adult, my goal is to conduct the session in a manner that is student-active. This strategy includes posing leading questions so that the student has the chance to discover the answers themselves and to take credit for their own learning. For example, when presented with work for a problem, I would ask why they chose a certain answer, and follow by asking what their approach was in determining their selection.
