A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Accounting with a minor in Economics and plan to continue my education into a Masters of Science in Accountancy program. During my tenure as a student, I had the opportunity to work four years in the college's Academic Resource Center as a writing consultant where I assisted students to improve their writing ability and to understand that writing should be look at the process rather than attempt to "correct" each paper. In addition being a writing consultant, I also acted as a student assistant for the center as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I always try to encourage the student to do the problems on his or her own, especially in math. I feel I have enough experience in math to be able to try different angles or come up with examples to help the student understand the concepts. I hope to help the student think positively and realize that he or she can do anything if he or she believes.
This past school year I worked with a senior high school student on his pre-calculus schoolwork; we met once a week and he was able to improve his grade enough to pass the class and keep his athletic scholarship to Indiana Tech. I also mentored a freshman high school student in the area once a week and participated in the tutoring program at the South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility.

As an engineer, I love math, and I love tutoring math. Every student has a different way of learning, and I try to find the best way for every one, playing and learning, real problems applied, flash cards, drawings, etc. I truly believe every body can learn, understand and become to love math in the way that I do. I may encourage few of them in become an Engineer, too, and help to improve this country. I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.
I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
