I achieved my BS in 3.5 years with certifications in Kindergarten and English for secondary education. I have employed multiple skills to teach many disciplines to students. My interest in Science and Technology encouraged not only students to learn, but other teachers to request my expertise. I have tutored many students, generally those needing special services, but I have also created strategies for parents and challenging work for more gifted students.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Purdue University with a focus on Modern English Literature. I have also spent several years as a full-time substitute teacher for a number of Northwest Indiana city school systems including Portage, Westville, Michigan City, LaPorte, and Valparaiso. During my teaching career, several teachers were happy to request and recommend my services for long term teaching assignments, including a four month assignment to a sixth grade Language Arts class for Michigan City Public Schools. Also, my services at Valparaiso Community Schools were respected enough to earn me a spot as an in-home instructor for two students considered too ill to attend classes.

As an undergraduate student, I had the opportunity to work as a tutor in the Writing Center of Andrews University. I assisted both undergraduate and graduate students and community members with various essays and papers, concentrating on grammatical correctness and content development. I also worked as the Ceramics Director at Camp Au Sable Youth Camp in Grayling, MI, teaching kids, teenagers and adult campers ceramics and managing the ceramics department.
