My comments on tutoring Calculus I: I took AP Calculus BC my senior year and revieced an A- however that was both Calculus I and II in the same course. I struggled with Calculus II, but am very good at Calculus I. I plan to skip a semester of Calculus I in college because of how well I already know it.

I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. Having this mentality of preparation and success will being them to reach their goals. Teaching new concepts, practice applying the new material, review, and more practice of the material to solidify the concepts.

I've been tutoring math for three years. I explain the solution slowly and clearly, also give some similar example for student to practice. The only way to improve the math is keeping doing practice. Once you are familiar with the rule of that kind question, you will not be afraid to face math any more.

I have several years experience working with children and adults in the education field. The students I have taught at the college level ranged from late teens to early 30s. As I have worked with such a wide range of ages I am familiar with the needs of students in each age group I have taught. I work with the student to understand the areas in which they are not as strong or confident and work with them to develop a method of studying and learning that works best for them. I believe that one of the most beneficial methods of learning material is to relate the material to something the student may be more familiar with or something with which they can relate. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the State University of New York at SUNY New Paltz and I have matriculated into the Master of Arts in Biology program at the same university. I loved learning mathematics throughout my college experience and during my student teaching in both high school geometry and college algebra courses I realized that my passion is my strength. I am able to use my knowledge of math beyond where my students are in order to attack the students understanding of the subject from different angles. This not only allows the student and myself to figure out how the student learns but it puts the student in good position to build on his/her mathematics knowledge. I am a recent graduate from the College of Saint Rose in Albany. I graduated with a Bachelors in Adolescent Education: Mathematics. I started tutoring my peers during my senior year of high school in 2005. At college I worked in the student learning center as a mathematics tutor.

I have a very patient approach to teaching others and always take special care to cater to different learning styles. I can adjust my tutoring style under almost any circumstances to accommodate each and every student based on their strengths and interests. I believe learning can be fun and interesting so long as the instructor is enthusiastic and holds the student's full attention for the duration of the instructional session. My overall style is based on the repetition and review of topics while implementing simplistic and relevant examples for a better understanding of concepts. After recently enrolling in the MBA Program at SUNY New Paltz, I have begun to realize that I will never be satisfied when it comes to learning. I have always sought to broaden my horizons through continuing education. In addition to my schooling, I am employed full time as the Administrative Manager for a Non

I tutored other classmates in Calc 1 to Calc 4 using easy memory tricks to remember formulas for Integration derivitatives of equations. I like working with students and believe I can provide a service that will help them with the math they will use in the real working force. I will work with a student for as long at takes until they understand the procedure and the way to approach problem solving. Understanding the learning habits of an individual is the key to relating to the student and making positive changes in those habits. I'm patient and empathetic, which helps me find methods to tailoring strategies unique to the student. Attempting to conform an individual to one predescribed style is the reason they're left behind in the first place. There is nothing more gratifying than the look of revelation on a student's face when he or she finds the key to true understanding. 2008 Graduate in English from Boston College. My experiences with capable and engaged teachers help me hone my written and verbal skills, the reason I chose to major in English. Throughout high school, I was proficient in not only these skills, but also Mathematics and History, which led me to sample many related classes in college. Attaining two degrees has opened my eyes to many different teaching styles and ways of learning. I believe that the most effective way to learn and teach is to explain concepts and theories thoroughly before any application of these concepts. I believe that in order to really learn a subject, and not just memorize it, the theory must be understood. I have tutored high school students and fellow college students in the past, and working as a team to explore the concepts behind the applications has proved to be successful for students' understanding of subject matter and, in the process, furthering my own. I attained my first degree in Supply Chain Management from Syracuse University in 2003. After working in that field for a few years, however, I chose to change my career path. I then went back to school at the City College of New York to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. I am h

Most of my career has been spent at IBM, where I built on my Physics background for a broad range of opportunities. I am now seeking to move into a teaching career and plan to start a Masters in Teaching in the Fall of 2009. During my educational development, I taught for three years in undergraduate and graduate school as part of the duties of a teaching Assistant. I have tutored secondary school students for the last 5 years in Math, Physics, and Chemistry. I enjoy helping students understand the principles they are dealing with, rather than focusing on helping them simply "get the answer" to the problem at hand. My goal is for them to be able to generalize the concept and apply it in different contexts. To develop interest, I seek to discuss related information or similar problems as much as possible. For Physics in particular, this approach is key to providing a sound foundatio
