I have taught in many different formats in both mathematics and physics. At Purdue University, I ran a physics laboratory class as well as did tutoring in a help center for physics. Afterwords I have also taught for ITT Tech where I taught an online physics course; IvyTech where I am currently teaching an algebra course; and the princeton review where I am teaching Physics for MCAT Students. My teaching style is that all students learn differently, so why to teach them using the same methods? I learned through college that I am a very visual learner, but if the class isn’t taught that way, it’s my job to present that information in a way that helps me learn. Also, the teacher should play a dichotomous role to the student; on one hand, he or she must be patient and lenient and willing to teach the student to the best of their abilities, but also, the teacher cannot be so lenient that the student doesn’t get work done. I am a proponent of the authoritative relationship between students and learners. A teacher has to be helpful and calm, but not so easygoing that work isn’t getting done.
