I have 11 yrs experience teaching in a California high school setting and 5 years experience as a tutor for ESL and for French at OSU, 3 years experience teaching English in France and lived in France for 7 years. I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. I do not possess documented experience from schools or other organizations. I am a very highly motivated individual that does not mind helping others. I also have experience in teaching or helping coach little league sports educating kids on how to play games correctly. I have also been an assistant coach and helped out at Clinton Community College with girl’s softball under the head coach.
I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.

I now use French daily in my career but when I first started taking it in high school, I had no idea how far it would take me. A Little Bit About Me...

I was the salutatorian of my high school class. I excelled in every subject, and was a member of the tutoring club. I also tutored my cousin, who has Down Syndrome, helping him with his summer school work, including literature, handwriting, math, and Spanish. I majored in Art at the Pennsylvania State University. I also took many different courses in Art and Art History, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography.
My teaching style is very versatile. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.

After completing a year as a teacher I realized that what I liked about teaching is the actual teaching part. Unfortunately for me, most of what was involved with being a teacher for me included tasks other than teaching, which was not what I had expected. I do very well with 1-on-1 tutoring and small group tutoring. The 11-15 age group is what I am especially interested in, but I have had experience with all ages from 4-25 years old.
